LIBERTYBUS has signed a new contract to run the Island’s bus services for the next ten years.

The contract, which was officially signed yesterday, begins on 6 April.

The bus operator has promised to deliver “better connectivity” and enhanced services, including more bus routes and increased frequencies.

LibertyBus also said it would modernise its fleet, replacing older vehicles with 22 ultra-low-emission high-capacity buses within the first 12 months.

Remaining buses will undergo refurbishment to “ensure comfort and reliability for passengers”.

Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan said: “LibertyBus’s commitment to improving route and frequency requirements means residents will benefit from more services than ever before.

“I am confident that they will continue to provide a more convenient and efficient experience for Islanders.

“By introducing ultra-low and zero-emission vehicles, we are not only improving the quality and reliability of our bus services but also contributing to a more sustainable and healthier future for our Island community.”

He added: “Together, these improvements will make our bus network more accessible, while supporting our long-term sustainability goals.”

Samuel Ribeiro, managing director of Tower Transit, the parent company of LibertyBus, said the company was “delighted” that the new contract had been signed.
