FIRST-look teaser footage for the upcoming Bergerac reboot has been released as those behind the six-part series get ready to launch it in 2025.

Commissioned by BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV, the U&Original series is produced by BlackLight TV – part of Banijay UK – as well as Jersey-based Westward Studios and supported by Visit Jersey.

It is due to launch in February on UKTV’s free streaming service U as well as free-to-air channel U&DRAMA.

Announced in April, the new show is due to offer a “contemporary twist” on the popular detective drama created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.

It is being directed by Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy and features Irish actor Damien Molony in the lead role of Jim Bergerac.

Other stars include Zoë Wanamaker as Charlie Hungerford, Philip Glenister as Arthur Wakefield and Chloé Sweetlove as Jim’s daughter, Kim.

Filming took place in Devon and in the Island over the summer, including scenes with Jersey actor Timothy Renouf who is playing a lead role.

Tricia Warwick, the chief executive of Visit Jersey, said: “We were delighted to welcome the cast and crew of Bergerac to Jersey this summer, and we are immensely proud of the warm welcome they received from our island community.”

She continued: “The modern re-imagining of Bergerac presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase Jersey on the global stage, connecting with devoted fans of the original series and a new generation of viewers eager to visit the locations featured in the show.”
