Jersey hairdressers take part in world-record-breaking event

A PAIR of hairdressers have become world-record holders after taking part in the largest-ever simultaneous hairstyling event in Ibiza.

Claudia Nunes, from Inch Studio on Bath Street, and Ana Franco, from Anacabello on Colomberie, were two of over 1,000 hairdressers from 37 countries who took part in the record-breaking attempt.

The event, organised by Italian hair care brand Milkshake to celebrate its 25th anniversary, saw 478 stylists working simultaneously in Ibiza’s old town last week.

Both stylists were invited to the event by their Jersey-based supplier, Bohemia Professional Services, where they ended up smashing the previous record of 360.

Ms Nunes described the atmosphere as “insane”, with “a thousand hairstylists in the square and a DJ hyping everyone up”.

“It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life,” she added.

Ms Franco spoke about how surreal it felt to be surrounded by hairdressers and clients from across the globe.

“The square was full of hairdressers, and behind us was a line of models. The whole working area covered almost 350 meters,” she said. “It was amazing to be part of something so big,” she added.

The rules were strict: each stylist had to work on their model at for least ten minutes, with before-and-after photos taken to show the changes they had made.

The record for the most people styling hair simultaneously was confirmed by a Guinness World Records judge later that night at Pacha nightclub, where the pair joined other participants in celebrating.

“To see the joy in everyone’s faces that we actually broke the record was really magical,” Ms Franco added. “I’m still on the buzz of it, to be honest.”
