WINDY weather forecast for this weekend has disrupted sailings but is not expected to affect flights.

Winds are expected to pick up during Saturday and peak at around midday on Sunday, going up to gale force 8 with gusts of around 60mph at times. A number of sailings to St Malo, Poole and Portsmouth this weekend have been cancelled.

A Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries spokesperson said: “Due to very high winds and rough seas peaking on Sunday, we are adding extra sailings around this period.

“Some sailings are cancelled and passengers and freight reaccommodated on alternative departures.

“Our team are proactively notifying all impacted customers.

“We regret this disruption during this busy travel period, but the adverse weather is inevitably affecting our services.”

A spokesperson for Ports of Jersey said disruption at the Airport was not expected, as the wind direction was “favourable” with no direct crosswinds that might impact operations or ground-handling services.
