FIREFIGHTERS were called to a gas leak on Palmyra Road in St Helier after a worker cut through a pipe in a property.

Residents in the area – which is between Midvale Road and Val Plaisant – were asked to stay indoors and keep windows closed on Friday morning.

Two fire engines attended the scene during the incident.

In a subsequent update, the fire service confirmed that they had “handed over to Island Energy and our crews have stood down”.

Island Energy later confirmed the gas supply “was damaged by a third party” and that its team had now made the site safe.
