FOLLOWING on from thrilling action in the Men’s Division 1 on Saturday, which saw victories for both OV Convicts and Crusaders, it was the turn of the opening fixture in Ladies Division 1 on Sunday, with a tight battle between Quackers and RWB.

IN a dramatic start to the new hockey season, Quackers clinched a thrilling 2-1 victory over RWB in the final moments of their first match.
Both teams showcased a blend of returning stars and exciting newcomers, setting the stage for a memorable game.
The match remained goalless at half-time as both teams began strongly.
RWB’s young goalkeeper, Amy Guthrie, was exceptional throughout the game, making a series of crucial saves.
Meanwhile, newcomer Neve Macken also made a significant impact, seamlessly integrating into RWB’s line-up.
RWB’s Kelly Cutting eventually broke the deadlock with a brilliantly executed short corner, giving her team a brief lead.
Quackers, however, responded with resilience and determination. Jamey Henderson scored the equaliser from a short corner, expertly injected by Eve Taylor-Cox.
In the dying embers of the match, Taylor-Cox grabbed another to seal the victory with a decisive second goal.
Notably, Aimee Aikenhead, making her debut for Quackers, was named player of the match by her teammates for her standout performance and clear determination.
The exhilarating win provides a significant boost for Quackers as they prepare for their upcoming match against Colombians in Guernsey, scheduled for two weeks’ time.
Elsewhere, there was action aplenty across Men’s Division 2.
Jersey Ladies 1st XI are now unbeaten from their two games played, after a 2-2 draw with Hunters.
Jamey Henderson and Chloe Cutting grabbed the goals for Jersey Ladies, while Tom Coward and Louis Le Poidevin were on target for Hunters.
Affinity JHC Panthers enjoyed a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Victoriana to begin their season, behind goals from Rory Baines, Rob Hurry and Jamie Bore.
Meanwhile, VC Second XI recovered from an opening game defeat to beat Affinity JHC Lions.
Jake Le Boutillier grabbed two, while Louis Bell and Sunny Reid scored one apiece.
Meanwhile, there were two high-scoring affairs in the Development Programme 2nd Division, as Walkers Falcons fell narrowly 6-7 to JLHC 2s.
Lucy Kirby and Megan Jerrard both scored twice for the victors, with singles from Farrah Firby, Phoebe James and Lexi Edward.
Rafi Hern was outstanding for Falcons, however, with an impressive haul of four goals, with Lex Helmholt-Kneisel on target also.
Elsewhere, there were three hat-trick heroes for Walkers Eagles in their 10-2 win over Nomads 2.
Charlie Bore, Jaxon Reddington and Zakari Irtizaali all grabbed three, with Herbie Hampton also on the scoresheet.
